Take control of managing your
mild to moderate rosacea!

YOUR MORNING ROUTINE — Step by Step

The following routine, used every morning, can keep you on top of your game—helping you to control your rosacea and help keep your skin healthy.

This is the regimen that noted dermatologist Dr. Leslie Baumann recommends to most of her patients who have mild to moderate rosacea.

Step 1 — Cleanse

Wash: Wash your face thoroughly with lukewarm water and a very mild soap or a soap-free cleansing lotion that is appropriate for your skin type (see recommendations).

Rinse: With your hands.

Dry: Gently blot your face dry with a thick cotton towel.

Step 2 — Apply Your Medication

The Right Rx: Only your healthcare professional can give you a prescription treatment for your rosacea. You and your dermatologist should discuss what treatments are available that may be right for you. As with all prescription products, you should always use them as directed by your healthcare professional.

Applying FINACEA: If your dermatologist has prescribed a topical medication called FINACEA, you should apply a thin layer to your face and gently but thoroughly massage it into your skin. Allow the FINACEA to dry before applying a moisturizer. If you don't have a prescription for FINACEA, talk to your dermatologist to find out if it may be right for you.

Note: Wash your hands after each application. Be sure to keep FINACEA away from your mouth, eyes, and other mucous membranes. If it does come in contact with your eyes, wash the eyes with large amounts of water. Consult a dermatologist if eye irritation persists.

Step 3 — Moisturize

Apply: After your medication has dried, apply a thin layer of moisturizer to your entire face to help restore your skin's ability to retain moisture.

Step 4 — Apply Sunscreen

Apply: Apply a thin layer of sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher for broad spectrum protection against UV rays. For exposure to intense sun, be sure your sunscreen has an SPF of 30 or more. Some moisturizers contain sun protection; ask your dermatologist if one is right for you.

Step 5 — Apply Your Cosmetics

Apply your foundation: You can use either a foundation with green tint or a regular foundation to minimize facial redness.

Apply your makeup: Apply your favorite makeup, being sure it's rosacea-friendly.

A word to men about cosmetics: Men can achieve good results without anyone noticing that they are wearing "makeup," provided they use the right foundation and apply it properly.

YOUR EVENING ROUTINE

In the evening, there's no need to use sunscreen, shave or apply cosmetics. Instead, you simply cleanse, apply your medication and moisturize. Put both routines together and you have your own specialized skin-care routine.
